On Friday 14 February 2025, Mr Ghislain MOANDZA MBOMA, Managing Director of ANPI-Gabon, met with a delegation from the US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC).
The DFC is the US development finance agency. It supports economic growth in developing countries by providing loans, guarantees, capital investments and political risk insurance. DFC focuses on strategic sectors such as infrastructure, mining, energy, health and technology, with the goal of stimulating sustainable development and strengthening the impact of the private sector.
The purpose of this mission to Gabon was to validate the progress of mining work aimed at exploiting potash in the Basse-Banio region in the Nyanga province. On this point, the ANPI CEO appreciated the DFC's interest in financing this project, which is one of the government's priority projects and will create jobs. He also urged that the financial closing be completed as quickly as possible, so that operations can begin in the second half of 2025.
As an investment facilitator, the CEO of ANPI-Gabon also presented an overview of strategic projects and priority sectors in Gabon.
DFC intends to rely on ANPI-Gabon to provide it with projects from private sector players who already have bankable feasibility studies in the key sectors of infrastructure, energy, mining and agriculture.
