Following the promulgation of the new gaming framework in Gabon, by the Ministry of the Interior, the National Agency for the Promotion of Investments (ANPI-Gabon), informs all users and operators that; the gambling environment in Gabon has been governed by a new normative framework since February 2021, in particular Ordinance No. 0012/PR/2020 of August 14, 2020 regulating Entertainment, Money and Chance Games in Gabonese Republic, whose main innovations are the opening to competition of the said sector, the taking into account of the online gaming sector, the preservation of players as well as the fight against the main addictions and the supervision of the number of operators, operators of gaming establishments on national territory.
Thus, in accordance with the provisions of the law, the forms of exploitation of games for entertainment, money and chance are divided into three categories of establishments or companies, namely:
First category :
- casinos;
- lotteries ;
- the operation of slot machines or devices.
Second category :
- betting on horse races in halls, racetracks or kiosks ;
- sports betting in theaters or at kiosks.
Third category: online betting companies.
Also, in order to implement the new legal mechanism adopted, the Ministry of the Interior invites established operators and those wishing to operate in the sector to regularize themselves with the competent services no later than July 14, 2022.
